May 5th. 1835 marks an important historical event for Belgium.
The first Rail Transport in Belgium between Brussels and
Mechelen (in English: Mechlin) was opened.

After splitting from the Netherlands King Leopold of Belgium
and his ministers decided to stimulate the industry.

Belgium became a railway center of the region. Nowadays Belgium still
has a very good Railway connection between the major cities
(although the punctuality could be better ...).
