Princess Beatrice of York was born on August 8th. 1988 in London. She is the
fifth grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

Princess Beatrice of York is ambassador for the organization Children in Crisis.
For this organization, Princess Beatrice collected money during the 
London Marathon (2010). She was the first member of the British Royal Family 
who completed a marathon.

In the movie 'Young Victoria' (2009), Princess Beatrice performed a non-speaking role.

Princess Beatrice is patron of several organizations like:

- York Musical Society;
- The Helen Arkell Dyslexia Center (Princess Beatrice had Dyslexia herself).

Princess Beatrice's father is Prince Andrew also known as 'Duke of York'.
Since the 15th. century this title is granted to the second son of the British
monarch.

The previous 'Duke of York' was Prince Albert  (father of Queen Elizabeth),
he reigned as King George VI. The title Duke of York merged with the crown.
