President Obama of The United States is in Belgium.
He visited the Flanders Field American Cemetery and Memorial in Waregem
(West Flanders).

Shortly after 11 o'clock there was a ceremony at the memorial.

First both anthems were sung. Secondly there was a laid down of a wreath.
This was to honor American soldiers who where killed in Belgium during the
first World War. After the ceremony the Last Post was played.

Then, the President, King Philippe and Prime Minister Di Rupo visited some
graves.

After the visit the three gave a speech.
President Barack Obama spoke about our country as: Brave Little Belgium.
He also mentioned the end of the poem of John McCrae:

The torch be yours to hold it high
if you break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep though poppies grow
in Flanders Fields...


This afternoon, President Barack Obama has a busy programme in Brussels.
He attended a EU-USA top.

This evening, there will be a Performance in the Bozar in Brussels.
Then the American President will continue his trip in Europe to Italy.
