1815 - 2015 - The Battle of Waterloo & Napoleon Bonaparte (2): The Hundred Days

The Battle of Waterloo was fought on June 18th. 1815 near Waterloo,
now located in my country, Belgium, then it was a part of the
United Kingdom of the Netherlands.

But what was before the battle? This period is called the Hundred Days.
Nowadays students know this period too, then it marked the period from
March 20th. 1815 (Napoleon's return from exile on Elba to Paris) till
the restauration of King Louis XVIII on July 8th. 1815. In fact
it wasn't exact 100 days but 111 days.

This period also is called the War of the 7th. Coalition. It included the
Waterloo campaign, the Napolitan War and several other campaigns.

On March 25th. 1815, five days after Napoleon's arrival in Paris, inter
alia Austria, Prussia, Russia, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands,
Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Sardinia, Sweden, Tuscany made a strong
coalition against Napoleon Bonaparte.

About this coalition and the important figures of this big army I'll tell you
more in one of my next blogposts.
