Queen Máxima was born Máxima Zorreguieta on May 17, 1971, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She grew up in a well-educated family and is the daughter of Jorge Zorreguieta and María del Carmen Cerruti Carricart.


Education and career in finance

Before marrying into royalty, Máxima had a successful career in finance. She holds a degree in economics from the Universidad Católica Argentina and worked for international banks in Buenos Aires, New York, and Brussels.


Multilingual Skills

Queen Máxima is fluent in several languages, including Spanish, Dutch, English, and some French. Her mastery of Dutch, which she learned as an adult, has been particularly admired in the Netherlands.


Love story with King Willem-Alexander
