Royal Highlights of August 2025

As summer reaches its peak, August brings a mix of tradition, elegance, and renewal across Europe's royal households. From serene summer retreats and national celebrations to poignant anniversaries and modern royal engagements, monarchies around the globe continue to capture attention with their enduring presence and evolving roles. Sail Amsterdam 20-24 August

This year, Amsterdam (The Netherlands) celebrates its 750th. B-day and the 10th. edition of Sail Amsterdam. Reason enough to visit the capital of The Netherlands. More about this event on this link.

Royal diary

On August 15th. The National Remembrance takes place at the Indian Monument in The Hague (The Netherlands). 

On August 15th. The Duke and  Duchess of Gloucester will attend a Service to commemorate the Eightieth Anniversary of VJ Day in Norwich Cathedral, 65 The Close, Norwich.

On August 15th. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester will attend a Service to commemorate the Eightieth Anniversary of VJ Day at the Suffolk Regimental Church, St Marys, Crown Street, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.

On August 20th. Princess Beatrix attends Concert European Youth Orchestra in Koninklijk Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

On August 25th, Crown Princess Victoria continues her plan to visit all nationalparks of Sweden with Nr. 8, Björnlandets nationalpark.

The BELvue (04/06/2025-04/01/2026) proposes “ART DECO. The style of a society in a process of change”, in order to address the transition between Art Nouveau and Art Deco and the social and societal changes of the time, through the collections of the King Baudoin Foundation

Egyptian Pharaos and orientalists in Bordeaux (France)

In 2025, travel back in time and rediscover the Egypt of the pharaohs through the masterpieces of this mythical civilisation, spanning three millennia and captivating generations.

„Es ist nicht Alles Gold das da gleist“. Friedrich der Weise  (Germany)

To mark the 500th anniversary of the death of Friedrich III, known as “the Wise”, the Münzkabinett is holding a special exhibition about this Ernestine Elector of Saxony, who was the first ruler of Saxony to be portrayed on currency. Coins and medals depicting him and associated with his reign document his life and political career; these are supplemented by a wide range of exhibits from the Kupferstich-Kabinett, the Rüstkammer, and the Skulpturensammlung up to 1800. Exhibition colours! Masterpieces from the Centre Pompidou (Monaco)

From July 8th to August 31st, 2025, the Grimaldi Forum Monaco and the Centre Pompidou will present “Couleurs!”, an exhibition devoted to a modern history of color through the greatest masterpieces of the 20th century. More on this link



A hint: National Coach museum in Portugal

In 2017, I had the chance to visit the National Coach museum in Portugal. Now on certain dates there are special ceremonial openings. 

Of course there are still the Palace openings Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle etc.
