King's Feast 2023 in Belgium and its royal history

Each year on November 15th. King's Feast is celebrated in Brussels, the capital of Belgium. This year there was a special gala concert on November 14th. in the Bozar in  Brussels, for the occasion of 10 years reign of King Philippe.  Two wonderful photographers - Bjorn Hoex and Geert Janssens - traveled to Brussels to attend all the ceremonies. Geert Janssens even could attend the  concert and the plenary session in the Senate. What's going on?  The King's Feast also called in Dutch: Koningsdag and in French: Fête du Roi as in German: Festtag des Königs has been celebrated in Belgium on November 15 since 1866.  Traditionally, a Te Deum is sung as well as a private observance being held. A royal wedding between Belgium & France

On 9 August 1832, a real royal wedding took place between King Leopold I of Belgium and Princess Louise of Orléans. Hard Negotiations At the beginning the parents of Princess Louise of Orléans, King Louis Philippe I of France and Maria Amalia of the Two Sicilies, didn't like the idea that their daughter would marry King  Leopold I of the Belgians. They had several reasons to decline the marriage: - King Leopold had fought in the army of the Russian Tsar against France. - He (had) belonged to the court of the royal family of the United Kingdom. - He was not a Roman Catholic. Other objections were:  The mother of Princess Louise of Orléans would like to marry her daughter to the Duke of Calabria, who was also the heir to the kingdom of Naples to tighten the strings between France and her native country. Enthronement ceremony of Japan 2019

Emperor Akihito of Japan abdicated on 30 April 2019. He was the first Japanese Emperor to do so since 1817. This marked the end of the Reiwa era. The new Emperor of Japan is Emperor Naruhito. His enthronement ceremony is scheduled on 22 October 2019. During the enthronement ceremony various ancient imperial regalia are given to the new Emperor. For the people in Japan the enthronement ceremony is an extra holiday and it will be attended by many guests (about 5.000) with high profile delegates from at least 155 countries. What a great diplomatic and royal event!
