My name is Kathelijne but everyone calls me Kathleen Van Lierop (unless on Twitter (X)).

I'm born, grew up and still live in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium, a beautiful city between Antwerp and Ghent with a lot of (royal) history. 

But the love for royals and history was given to me by my maternal grandmother. She could tell hours about Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Sisi), Queen Victoria, Napoleon and of course our own royal family, the one of Belgium.

When I was a kid, I always thought, royal lives were as on the cookie boxes or as in real fairy tales, however during the years, I discovered that being a royal could be tough too: the complicated (arranged) marriages, the politics, the finances, reforms, ... all wasn't that easy for the kings and queens in past and present times.

At the beginning, I wanted to keep a database with information about the history of the royal families. That plan is transformed during the years. Now it is a "real" blog, although it has sometimes the form of a database :-) 

I started to keep information however it grew over the years to a collection of wonderful stories connected to the royals and their families. 

The history of royal families is a big bone that contains lots of interesting topics such as: traveling, shopping, books, splendid royal destinations, jewellery, fashion and much more. 

During the years - via this blog - I met the most lovely people of all the world, online and offline, which made my life only more brighter than ever. 

To keep making it beautiful, you will not find here gossips but only true history and facts. I also don't like to talk about politics or other things that people can hurt or offend. 

Oh yes, my native language is Dutch, although I often speak and write in English. I also have a good knowledge of French, notes of German and Spanish.

Interests

First of all, I really love writing handwritten cards to royal families. It's always very nice to receive a royal reply. See the page Royal Correspondence on top of my blog or on this link. 

I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and I like to build with Lego. I'm try to complete my own Hogwarts Castle.



Another great hobby of me is gardening. We have a great garden in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium where I do love keeping flowers. 


Just as i like to visit royal gardens.




And of course traveling to royal destinations is my favourite way to spend some time.

Only a few noble families are intertwined with the history of  a country. The de Liedekerke family has it all: a long and interesting history and close ties to the rules of their country.  Let's take a closer look!  History It was in 1301 that the history of the family de Liedekerke started. Then Knight Raas of Herzele signed an official document in Beveren. His son was Raas of Herzele of (de) Liedekerke. Since 1996, the royal family's head is: Franz, Duke of Bavaria. So far is the situation nowadays but this royal familie has a very nice history.
