Noble Families Ullens de Schooten

One of the most noble dynasties in Belgium is the prestigious Ullens de Schooten
Family.



Besides a lovely coat of arms, the family Ullens de Schooten really has a nice
history linked to an illustrious royal.

History


It was King Charles II of Spain who granted three sons of the family Ullens a
noble title.



Only one of the three sons had descendants. This was Antoine Ullens, the son of
Jean-Baptiste, married to Marie van Delft, who continued the noble line.

In 1816 their title was recognized in the Belgian nobility.

Many descendants of the family Ullens de Schooten became famous.

- Cornelius Floris Ullens was mayor of Schoten from 1830 till 1847;
- Charles Ullens de Schooten was member of the Chamber of
Representatives in   Belgium (1892 - 1908)

👑 Countess Madeleine Bernadotte the wife of Charles-Albert
d' Ullens de Schooten was the daughter of Prince Carl Bernadotte.
He was the son of Prince Carl of Sweden, Duke of Västergötland.
Prince Carl Bernadotte was thus the brother of Queen Astrid of
Belgium.


Now



Baron Guy Ullens de Schooten Whetnall (born on 31 January 1935), and his
wife Myriam Ullens are really important in the today's society, although
they lived in Switzerland and in Belgium.




With his foundation the family Ullens founded the Ullens Center for
Contemporary Art in Beijing (China) and the Ullens School in Nepal.

Guy Ullens also is a businessman, his group took inter alia control over
Weight Watchers.

Guy Ullens was appointed as officer of the Legion of Honour in France
and he also is Commander of the Order of Leopold II in Belgium.

Myriam Ullens also launched her own fashion label: Maison Ullens.
Ullens published her first novel, Distant Starless Nights, in February 2017.

Maison Ullens had famous clients such as Queen Mathilde of
the Belgians and Melania Trump. 




On 29 March 2023, Myriam Ullens was shot and killed in front of her
home in Lasne. She was 70. Her stepson, Nicolas Ullens de Schooten
Whettnall (born 1965) was arrested and is under investigation for
the murder. 

At the beginning of April 2023 Baron Guy Ullens already filed a civil
suit against his 57-year-old son Nicolas. On April 11, 2023,
Virginie and Gilles Lemaire, the two children of the murdered
Baroness Myriam "Mimi" Ullens de Schooten (70), filed a civil party
before the investigating judge. This will be continued.

On 14 May 2022 Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan passed away at the age of 73. Family Khalifa was born on 7 September 1948 at Qasr Al-Muwaiji, Al Ain, in Abu Dhabi (then part of the Trucial States), the eldest son of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Hassa bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Education   He was a graduate of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
