Is motorcycling a royal hobby?

Motorcycling certainly is a royal hobby because many kings and princes like(d) to
drive incognito around.

Motorcycling is the act of riding on a motorcycle. Motorcycles are mainly a luxury
good in developed nations. There they are mostly for recreation or as a symbol of
identity.

Belgium

King Albert II of Belgium was known as a keen motor cyclist. However he stopped
after a few accidents. His most famous accident was around the time of the wedding
of his daughter Princess Astrid.

King Albert I, the grandfather of King Albert II, had a passion for mechanics and
especially for motors too.

Denmark

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and her husband Crown Prince Frederik were seen
on a scooter ride in 2006.

Prince Hendrik of Denmark, the husband of Queen Margrethe of Denmark also liked
to ride on a motor bike.

Germany

Otto von Hessen died in an accident with his motor bike on 17 May 2020.

Italy

Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy, Prince of Venice, the grandson of Princess
Marie-José of Belgium also is a keen motor cyclist. In 2018, this Prince
revealed that he wanted to create a royalist party to advocate for the
restoration of the monarchy in Italy.

Jordan

King Abdullah II of Jordan is a motor cyclist too. There are pictures of
King Abdullah II of Jordan riding on a motor bike in the beautiful
scenery of Wadi Rum.

King Hussein of Jordan also took his wife Queen Noor to a trip on a
motor bike in Wadi Rum.

Monaco

Prince Albert II of Monaco is a motorsport enthusiast either. At least in his
younger years he was a biker. Prince Albert I of Monaco had one of the first
motor bikes too.

Spain

Juan Carlos of Spain often rode around Madrid incognito on a motor bike.
He also presented the awards of the motorcycle Grand Prix of Spain.

Sweden

Prince Bertil of Sweden was known as the motor Prince. He liked to ride on
motor bikes with or without his wife Lilian. (Thank you Johan Bengtsson for
your hint).

United Kingdom

It isn't perhaps no surprise that William, the Duke of Cambridge likes to ride on a
motor bike. However the Duchess of Cambridge is very worried about his hobby.

Prince William inherited his passion from his grandfather Prince Philip, Duke of
Edinburgh.

In a 1941 Motor Cycling magazine Princess Elizabeth (now the Queen) posed on
a motor on the front page!

The father of Queen Elizabeth, King George VI also enjoyed a ride on his motor
bike.

Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon did like a ride on a motor bike too. So it
was a family passion for sure.
