Royal Highlights December 2025
December has always been a special month in the world of royalty. As the year draws to a close and winter lights begin to sparkle across palaces and capitals, royal families around the globe step into a season filled with tradition, ceremony and moments of connection. From state visits on distant shores to centuries-old constitutional celebrations, from festive concerts to the familiar Christmas broadcasts, December brings together history and present day in a way only monarchies can.

December 1st till December 3rd.:
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of The Netherlands will travel to Suriname for an official State Visit.
In early December (often between 3 and 7 December)
the Monaco Royal Family traditionally inaugurates the Christmas Village at Port Hercule. In recent years, Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène (often with their twins) have taken part in the ceremony. The same period sees major philanthropic events organised under Princess Charlène’s Foundation.
December 3rd - December 5th
Early December: President H.E. Frank-Walter Steinmeier of the Republic of Germany will pay a State Visit to the United Kingdom.
December 5th.
HRH The Princess of Wales will return to Westminster Abbey to host her fifth annual Together at Christmas carol.
December 6th.
Día de la Constitución; The King presides over the Constitution Day commemorations.

Queen Mary of Denmark is on an official visit to Kenya.

Nobel Banquet in Stockholm, Sweden, King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Prince Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Madeleine & Chris O'Neil will attend this event.
Nobel Prizes in Oslo, Norway, the royal family attended the ceremony, King Harald, Queen Sonja Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette Marit and Princess Ingrid Alexandra.
December 11th. and December 12th.
President Alexander Stubb of Finland will make an official State Visit to The Netherlands.
December 11th.
Her Royal Highness Princess Astrid of Belgium has asked His Majesty The King [Philippe] to relieve her of her responsibility for leading Belgian Economic Missions. For twelve years, the Princess represented The King on twenty-four foreign missions. On the advice of her doctors, she now wishes to resign from this role for health reasons, which no longer allow her to fully fulfill the requirements of this position. The King granted her request and sincerely thanks her for her years of generous and enthusiastic dedication to Belgian Foreign Trade. He wishes her a speedy recovery.
In anticipation of the assumption of this responsibility by Her Royal Highness Princess Elisabeth, Duchess of Brabant, Her Majesty The Queen [Mathilde] will lead the Belgian Economic Missions representing The King.

Princess Anne is confirmed to attend the December Sovereign's Parade at Sandhurst Royal Military Academy
