Duchess Maria Dorothea of Württemberg, mother of a queen

1 November 1797 marks the birth of Duchess Maria Dorothea of Württemberg. This took place in Pokoj, a village nowadays located in southern Poland. Family Duchess Maria Dorothea of Württemberg was the eldest daughter of Duke Louis of Württemberg (1756–1817) and Princess Henriette of Nassau-Weilburg (1780–1857). She was a member of the House of Württemberg . Her brother Alexander was the grandfather of Mary of Teck , the future queen consort of George V of the United Kingdom. Due to her family and her marriage she had some lovely family ties. Love and marriage She was the third wife of Archduke Joseph, Palatine of Hungary, to whom she was married on 24 August 1819. They had following children: - Archduchess Franziska Marie - Archduke Alexander - Archduchess Elisabeth Franziska - Archduke Joseph Karl - Marie Henriette , who was due to her marriage Queen of the Belgians  Death She dies on March 30th. 1855 in Pest, Hungary.

Princess Henriette of Nassau-Weilburg was born on April 22nd. 1780 in Kirchheimbolanden. Henriette - Source picture: Wikipedia Family Her parents had been Charles Christian of Nassau-Weilburg and his wife Carolina of Orange Nassau (daughter of William IV of Orange). She was a member of the House of Nassau-Weilburg. Love and Marriage At the Hermitage near Bayreuth, Princess Henriette married Duke Louis of Württemberg. They would have 5 children. 👉 Did you know that the composer Carl Maria von Weber worked as Geheimer Sekretär for her husband and gave piano lessons to her daughters? info  @SabineHammerba1 Through her grandchildren Princess Henrietta has many descendants. Inter alia: Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kindom; Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh; Juan Carlos I of Spain. Death Princess Henriette died on January 2nd. 1857 at the age of 76 at Kirchheim unter Teck. 

OTD 2 October 1921 - William II, King of Württemberg

On February 25th. 1848 a boy was born in Stuttgart (then capital of the Kingdom Württemberg). The boy received the name William (in German: Wilhelm). Source picture: Wikipedia His parents were Prince Frederick of Württemberg and Princess Catherine of Württemberg. On February 15th. 1877 William married Princess Marie of Waldeck and Pyrmont (elder sister of Emma en Helena). They had 3 children, 1 survived childhood. Princess Marie died in 1882 (aged 24) from complications resulting from the birth of her third child. On April 8th. 1886 William married Princess Charlotte of Schaumburg-Lippe.
