68-69 The year of the Four Emperors Birth & family Serverius Sulpicius Galba (sounds as a name in Harry Potter) was born near Terracina on 24 December 3 BC.  He was not related to any of the emperors of the Julio-Claudian dynasty but he was a member of a distinguished noble family.  Love and marriage Galba had a sexual preference for men above women. Nevertheless he married a woman named Azmilia Lepida and he had two sons. Aemilia and their sons died during the early years of the reign of Claudius (41-54) and Galba would remain a widower for the rest of his life. Public life Galba became praetor in about 30, then he became governor of Aquitania for  about a year, then consul in 33.  In 39, Emperor Caligula learned of a plot against himself in which Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus Gaetulicus, the general of the Upper German legions was a key figure. Caligula installed Galba in the post held by Gaetulicus. As commander, Galba gained a reputation as a disciplinarian....

Assassination of King Faisal of Saudi Arabia

On 25 March 1975, a terrible thing happened in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Then King Faisal was shot by his half-brother's son: Faisal bin Musaid. On that day, in the waiting room, Prince Faisal talked to Kuwaiti representatives, who also were waiting to meet King Faisal. King Faisal - President Nixon and First Lady Nixon King Faisal was the ruler of Saudi Arabia from 2 November 1964.  From 1953 he was appointed Crown Prince.  When the Prince went to embrace his uncle, King Faisal leaned to kiss his nephew in accordance with Saudi custom. At that instant Prince Faisal took out a gun and shot him. The first shot hit the King's chin and the second one went through his ear. A bodyguard hit Prince Faisal with a sword. King Faisal was quickly taken to the hospital, he was still alive. However he died shortly afterwards. 15 November 1902 an attempted murder of King Leopold II

On 15 November 1902 an attempted murder of King Leopold II of Belgium took place in Brussels, the capital of Belgium. Italian anarchist Gennaro Rubino attempted to assassinate King Leopold II of Belgium, who was riding in a royal cortege from a ceremony at the St. Gudula and St. Michael Cathedral in memory of his deceased wife Queen Marie Henriette. After Leopold's carriage passed, Rubino fired 3 shots at the procession. The shots missed King Leopold but they killed almost a Grand Marshall: Count Charles John d'Oultremont. Rubino was immediately arrested and sent to prison. With his act he wanted to avenge the protesters who were shot in the spring of that year when they took  to the streets for universal suffrage (not for Congo). He died in prison in 1918. After this, the security of the King was questioned. Elsewhere in Europe this assassination attempt was received with alarm. OTD 1 June 2001 Royal Massacre of Nepal

Following the royal families certainly is as a big circle of life. They have very happy moments such as births and weddings but there are sad things too. One of the most saddest moments in recent history was the Royal Massacre of Nepal, which took place on 1 June 2001. Then Crown Prince Dipendra opened fire at a house on the grounds of the Narayanhity Royal Palace, the residence of the Nepalese Royal Family. At that moment a party was being held. Crown Prince Dipendra shot and killed his father, King Birendra, his mother, Queen Aishwarya and seven other members of the royal family before shooting himself in the head.
