Royal Ascot is one of the most important Royal events of the year. The racecourse was found by Queen Anne. More about the history of this Royal Ascot Racecourse. History The racecourse was founded in 1711 by Queen Anne , when out riding from Windsor Castle, she came upon an area of open heath that looked, in her words, 'ideal for horses to gallop at full stretch'. Her plans for a new race meeting were subsequently announced in the London Gazette of 12 July 1711. Equestrian Equestrian is commonly known as horse riding. It includes the disciplines of riding, driving, or vaulting with horses.  own picture Some history The exact date horses were domesticated is unknown, just as the date when  they were first ridden. The best estimate is that horses first were ridden about 3500 BC.  Equestrianism was introduced in the 1900 Summer Olympics as a Olympic sport with jumping events.  By 1912, all three Olympic disciplines still seen today were a part of the games. They are governed by the rules of the International Federation for  Equestrian Sports (FEI). * Dressage; * Show Jumping; * Eventing.  Royals and their love for horse riding Austria On 2 January 1743, Maria Theresa of Austria held a ladies carousel in the Winter Riding School of the Hofburg.  Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Sisi)  (1837 - 1898)  was a keen equestrian. She loved horse riding. She rode every day for hours on end. She became the world's best-known female equestrian at her time.

Onthisday,  on 26 June 1866 George Edward Stanhope Molyneux Herbert was born at Highclere Castle in Hampshire in the United Kingdom. Family His parents were Henry Herbert, the 4th. Earl of Carnavon and Lady Evelyn Stanhope. His maternal grandparents were George Stanhope, 6th. Earl of Chesterfield and Lady Anne. Love and Marriage Lord Carnavon married to Almina Victoria Maria Alexandra Wombwell. She was the illegitimate daughter of millionaire banker, Alfred de Rothschild of the famous Rothschild family. This wedding took place on 26 June 1895. They would have 2 children. Hobby's Carnavon first was best known as an owner of race horses and a reckless driver of early cars. His grandson the 7th. Earl of Carnavon was a racing manager to Queen Elizabeth II from 1969 and one of the Queen's closest friends.
