Princess Margarita of Greece and Denmark

The eldest daughter of Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark and Princess Alice of Battenberg, Margarita was born at the Royal Palace in Athens on 18 April 1905.  Family Through her mother, Margarita was the eldest great-great grandchild of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom . Contrary to the custom of the time, her father attended her birth because her grandmother, Queen Olga, believed that "it is only justice that men see the suffering they cause to their wives, and from which they completely escape". She also was a great-great grandchild of Tsar Nicholas I of Russia , trough her father. With their mother, Margarita and her sisters communicated in English, but they also used French, German, and Greek in the presence of their relatives and governesses. Princess Cecilie of Greece and Denmark her noisy life and tragic death

The third daughter of Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark and Princess Alice of Battenberg, Cecilie was born at Tatoi Palace, near Athens, on 22 June 1911. Baptized on 10 July, her godparents were King George V of the United Kingdom, Ernest Louis, Grand Duke of Hesse, Prince Nicholas of Greece and Denmark and Grand Duchess Vera Konstantinovna of Russia. Childhood Cecilie spent a happy childhood within a united household that was already made up of two daughters, Margarita (1905–1981) and Theodora (1906–1969), and was  further expanded with the arrival of Sophie (1914–2001).  Cecilie's early years were marked by the instability that the Kingdom of Greece  experienced at the start of the twentieth century. Between 1912 and 1913, Greece  engaged in the Balkan Wars, during which Prince Andrew served under  Crown Prince Constantine while Princess Alice worked as a nurse for wounded soldiers.  They were, however, especially affected by the First World War, which created d ivision between

Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh passed away at Windsor Castle on 9 April 2021. Who was Prince Philip? Source picture: Book Cover   Family Prince Philip was born on 10 June 1921 at Mon Repos on Corfu in Greece.  More about Mon Repos on this link . His parents were Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark and  Princess Alice of Battenberg.  His paternal grandparents were King George I of Greece and Olga Constantinovna of Russia. His maternal grandparents were Prince Louis of Battenberg and Princess Victoria of Hesse and by Rhine.  Prince Philip was a member of the House of Glücksburg and later a member of the House of Mountbatten. Education Prince Philip first went to The Elms, an American school in Paris run by Donald MacJannet.  In 1928, Philip went to the United Kingdom to attend Cheam School, where he lived with his maternal grandmother, Victoria Mountbatten, Dowager Marchioness of Milford Haven at Kensington Palace and his uncle George Mountbatten, 2nd. Mon Repos is a classy villa located in Corfu Town with a large importance in Royal History. Mon Repos was ordered by the English commissioner Thomas Maitland and his Greek wife.
