All About Royal Families

Princess Katherine of Greece and Denmark was born on May 4th. 1913 in Athens. Grandparents : King George I of Greece and Olga Konstantinovna of Russia. Frederick III, German Emperor and Empress Victoria (the eldest child of  Queen Victoria and Prince Albert) Family : Princess Katherine had 5 siblings: 3 brothers: George, Alexander & Paul, who became all Kings of the Hellenes 2 sisters: Helen (who married Carol II of Romania) and Irene  (who married Aimone of Savoy, Duke of Spoleto). Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (husband of Queen Elizabeth II) was her first cousin. Life : In 1917 her parents exiled and moved to Switzerland. Later the family moved to Florence (Italy). This picture is taken in Germany near the Rhine River.  As you can see, the views really are amazing with all that wine trees. Margaret of York was born on May 3rd. 1446 in Fotheringhay Castle (England). This was the chief seat of the House of York. Family Margaret had been born the 3rd daughter and the 6th child of the 12 children of Richard Plantagenet (3rd. Duke of York) and Cecily Neville. Margaret and her siblings would have been fully aware of their family history and their royal rights. Margaret already was 15 years old when her brother became King. In those ages she was a young woman with a complete training and education. Most of her brothers and sisters had their own households. But she had to remain at the Royal Court for another 7 years ... Eleanor of Viseu was born on May 2nd. 1458 in Beja (Portugal). Eleanor of Viseu - Source picture: Wikipedia Her parents were Fernando I of Viseu and Beja & Beatrice of Portugal. On January 22nd. 1470 she married John II, Prince of Portugal. See my Today in History of March 3rd . The bride only was twelve years old, the groom 15. Her spouse was the heir apparent for the Portugese throne. Eleanor and John spent a lot of their childhood together and were good friends. On August 28th. 1481, Alfonso V of Portugal died and John II became King of Portugal. She was Queen Consort.  Eleanor was extremely wealthy and used much of her money for charity.
