The Weekend Special is about the History of the Greek Royal Family - Constantine I

On August 2nd. 1868, Constantine I was born in Athens (capital of Greece).
He was the first Greek-born Royal! He received the title: Duke of Sparta.

Together they had 6 children:

2/ Alexander, King of the Hellenes;

King Alexander married a commoner: Aspasia Manos.
They had 1 child, Alexandra who became later Queen Consort of Yugoslavia.

3/ Princess Helen of Greece and Denmark;

Princess Helen of Greece and Denmark married her second cousin
Crown Prince Carol of Romania.

4/ Paul, King of the Hellenes


















Paul married Frederika of Hannover. They had 3 children:

Queen Sofía of Spain;
Constantine II of Greece;
Princess Irene.

5/ Princess Irene of Greece and Denmark;

She married Prince Aimone of Savoy, Duke of Aosta.
They had 1 son: Prince Amadeo, Duke of Aosta.

6/ Princess Katherine of Greece and Denmark.

Princess Katharine married Richard Brandman. They had 3 children.

As you can see, the former Greek Royal family had Dynastic
ties through Europe. In that time reigning was a maze of Powerful
Families and most of them where descendents of Queen Victoria.
