On November 25th. 1876 Princess Victoria Melita of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha
was born in San Anton Palace (Malta).

Princess Victoria was the third child and second daughter of
Alfred, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha &
Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna of Russia.

She was a grandchild of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom and
Tsar Alexander II of Russia as well.

Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg married twice.
In 1894, she married Ernest Louis, Grand Duke of Hesse.

Their marriage was a huge event.
Most of the European Royals attended the wedding like:
- Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom;
- Kaiser Wilhelm II;
& the Prince of Wales (Queen Victoria's son).

On their wedding the engagement of the later Tsar Nicholas II
of Russia and Alix of Hesse (sister of Ernest Louis) was announced.

Princess Victoria Melita and Ernest of Hesse divorced in 1901.
That was unusual for that time in Royal Families....
In 1905, she remarried Grand Duke Cyril Vladimirovich of Russia.
