On March 12th. 1781, Frederica of Baden was born in Karlsruhe (Germany).

Her parents were Karl Ludwig of Baden and Amalie of Hesse-Darmstadt.

Frederica of Baden was the sister of Louise of Baden (who changed her name in Elizabeth Alexeievna by her marriage with Tsar Alexander I of Russia and her conversion to the Orthodox Church). 

In 1797, Frederica married King Gustaf IV Adolf of Sweden.

Together they had five children.

In 1809, there was a coup in Sweden. The Royals exiled in Baden. King Gustaf IV was restless . They seperated in 1810. In 1812 the divorce was completed.

Frederica traveled a lot and died on September 25th. 1826 in Lausanne (Switzerland). 

There were several communities in Sweden named in her honor.

What a shame that her husband was so restless. It is sad that they divorced, but hopefully she enjoyed her travels until she died!
