March 21st. was declared by UNESCO as World Poetry Day.
This happened in 1999.
The purpose of this day is to promote the reading, writing,
publishing and teaching of poetry through the world.
Like UNESCO said:
"To give the fresh recognition and impetus of national,
regional and international poetry movements."
However this day generally was held on October the 5th. or the
15th. This tradition still stands in the United Kingdom.
In Canada the National Poetry month is held in April.
