Royal books on Sunday: Un Amour Souverain

There are not many books about the grand ducal family of Luxembourg. However
recently I found and bought a very beautiful book: un Amour Souverain.
It is a mix written in English and in French.

Context

While studying in Geneva, Henri met the Cuban-born María Teresa Mestre y Batista,
who was also a political science student.

They married in Luxembourg in a civil ceremony on 4 February 1981 and a religious
ceremony on 14 February 1981 with the previous consent of the grand duke, dated
7 November 1980; and they remain married.

The couple has five children: Guillaume, Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg,
Prince Félix of Luxembourg, Prince Louis of Luxembourg,
Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg, and Prince Sébastien of Luxembourg.

For the first time, on the occasion of their emerald wedding, the
Grand Duke and Grand Duchess agreed to confide in Stéphane Bern in
complete privacy, to tell their love story, to unveil their personal album with
unpublished photographs. Throughout the pages, the incredible saga of a
monarchical institution that has succeeded in adapting brilliantly to the challenges
of the world, notably by leading humanitarian and charitable battles recognized
by all, emerges.

Who is Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg?

Henri (French: Henri Albert Gabriel Félix Marie Guillaume, born 16 April 1955)
is the Grand Duke of Luxembourg.

He has reigned since 7 October 2000. Henri, the eldest son of
Grand Duke Jean and Princess Joséphine-Charlotte of Belgium,
is a first cousin of King Philippe of Belgium.

Who is Grand Duchess Maria Teresa?

Maria Teresa Mestre y Batista  was born in 22 March 1956 in Marianao,
Havana, Cuba, to José Antonio Mestre y Álvarez (Vedado, Havana, 1926–1993)
and wife María Teresa Batista y Falla de Mestre (Vedado, Havana, 1928–1988),
both from bourgeois families of Spanish descent.

In October 1959, at the time of the Cuban Revolution, Maria Teresa Mestre
left Cuba with her parents, because the new government headed by Fidel Castro
confiscated her family properties. The family settled in New York City, where,
as a young girl, she was a pupil at Marymount School.

From 1961 she carried on her studies at the Lycée Français de New York.
In her childhood, Maria Teresa Mestre took ballet and singing courses.
She practiced skiing, ice-skating and water sports. She has lived in Santander,
Spain, and Geneva, Switzerland.

In 1980 she graduated from the Graduate Institute of International and
Development Studies in Geneva with a degree in political sciences.
While studying there, she met her future husband Henri of Luxembourg

The Book

In this lovely book they express their love to each other and to their family.
It's written together with the Grand Duke, the Grand Duchess and Stéphane Bern.

The book shows pictures of the Grand Ducal Family of Luxembourg;
-their family
- with other royals such as King Philippe of Belgium and Queen Mathilde;
King Willem Alexander of the Netherlands and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands.
-with presidents such as Macron of France.

It also shows pictures of the interests of Grand Duchesse Maria Teresa of
Luxembourg and their houses as well.

Who is Stéphane Bern?

Stéphane Bern Listen is a Franco-Luxembourgish radio and television host,
actor and writer, born November 14, 1963 in Lyon.

Passionate about the royal and reigning families in Europe, he presented
several programs devoted to French history and heritage, which from the
2000s contributed to making him an emblematic figure of the French
audio-visual landscape. He is particularly known for being the host of the
historical show Secrets d'histoire since 2007.

"Un Amour souverain" is a beautiful royal book from Luxembourg. It was
published in 2021 and it really is an asset for my royal book collection.
