OTD 2 January 1861 Frederick William IV of Prussia (Germany)

On January 2nd. 1861, Frederick William IV of Prussia died in Potsdam near Berlin in Germany.

Frederick William IV of Prussia was born on October 15th. 1795. His parents were Frederick William III of Prussia and Louise of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.

In 1823 he married Elisabeth Ludovika of Bavaria, a daughter of King Maximilian I Joseph of Bavaria. Elisabeth Ludovika of Bavaria was an aunt of Empress Elisabeth of Austria also called Sisi.

On June 7th. 1840, Frederick William IV became King of Prussia. He was patron of several arts like music and architecture. Felix Mendelssohn became famous  during his reign.
