Historical Hotels - Drake Hotel in Chicago

Last week Isabelle Dumon visited the city of Chicago. I'm glad that I can use
her beautiful pictures.

Picture of Chicago

Chicago is the third most populous city of the United States (after New York and
Los Angeles). It is located in the state of Illinois.

In 1830, Chicago was founded. In 1837 it became a city.
So far the history.

A lot of Royals visited the city too, like:
Queen Elizabeth II of The United Kingdom
Prince Charles of The United Kingdom;
Diana, Princess of Wales;
Prince Felix Yusupov of Russia;
King Hussein of Jordan;
Empress of Japan.

They all stayed at the Drake Hotel.

The Drake Hotel was founded in 1920 and designed in the Italian
Renaissance style.

Tracy and John Drake became the owners of this hotel.

In 1996 it was purchased by the Hilton International.

The Drake Hotel was seen in many movies like:

My Best Friend's Wedding;
What Women Want;
Flags of our Fathers;
and Mission Impossible.

The Drake Hotel also has some famous retail tenants. Inter alia Chanel,
Georg Jensen and Van Cleef & Arpels are among them.

So this was this Week's Hotel Special. Next week there will be another one!
