OTD 16 October 1796 King Victor Amadeus III of Sardinia

On June 26th. 1726, Victor Amadeus was born at the Royal Palace of Turin.

His parents were Charles Emmanuel III of Sardinia and Polyxena of Hesse-Rotenburg.

As heir of the throne his birth was much greeted with joy. He also received a proper and military education. Throughout his life, Victor Amadeus would have a great interest in the state military. 

On May 31th. 1750, Victor Amadeus of Sardinia married the very noble Maria Antonia, infante of Spain (youngest daughter of King Philip V of Spain). Although, the marriage was arranged, this turned out happy. They had a loving relationship and 12 children.

On February 20th. 1773 Victor Amadeus became King of Sardinia. He was very suspicious of anything innovative. However he tried to improve the army and the administration. 

Victor Amadeus of Sardinia died on October 16th. 1796 due to an attack of apoplexy. He was buried in the Basilica of Superga in Turin. 

It looks like, once, I should visit Sardinia and Turin in northern Italy.

The eldest daughter of Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark and Princess Alice of Battenberg, Margarita was born at the Royal Palace in Athens on 18 April 1905.  Family Through her mother, Margarita was the eldest great-great grandchild of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom . Contrary to the custom of the time, her father attended her birth because her grandmother, Queen Olga, believed that "it is only justice that men see the suffering they cause to their wives, and from which they completely escape". Only a few noble families are intertwined with the history of  a country. The de Liedekerke family has it all: a long and interesting history and close ties to the rules of their country.  Let's take a closer look!  History It was in 1301 that the history of the family de Liedekerke started.
