In 1643 he married Sophie Amalie of Brunswick-Lüneburg. Caroline Augusta of Bavaria was born on  February 8th. 1792. In 1808, Caroline married William, Crown Prince of Württemberg. This was arranged to avoid a political marriage organized by Napoleon. After the ceremony her spouse said: "We are victims of politics". They divorced in 1814. The marriage was dissolved by Pope Pius VII. In 1816, Caroline married Francis I, Emperor of Austria & King of Hungary and Bohemia. They had no children. In 1114 Matilda of England married Holy Roman Emperor Henry V in Mainz (Germany). Henry died in 1125. In 1128, Matilda married Geoffrey V, Count of Anjou.
