OTD March 14th.1822 Teresa Cristina of the Two Sicilies Empress consort of Brazil

Teresa Cristina was born on March 14th. 1822 in Naples (Italy). Teresa Cristina of the Two Sicilies later Empress Consort of Brazil Source picture: Wikipedia Teresa Cristina was the daughter of the Duke of Calabria who became later King Francis I of the Two Sicilies (in Italian: Francesco) and  Maria Isabella of Spain. In 1843 she married Pedro II of Brazil. Pedro II of Brazil Source picture: Wikipedia The first years of their marriage were difficult but they get used to each other. They had 4 children together. In 1889, the Imperial family was ordered to leave Brazil.  On December 29th. 1889, Empress Teresa Cristina died in Porto (Portugal).  In 1921 she was reburied in Petrópolis (Brazil). OTD March 13th. 1753 Louise Marie Adélaïde de Bourbon

On March 13th. 1753, Louise Marie Adélaïde de Bourbon was born in Hôtel de Toulouse in Paris. Louise Marie Adélaïde de Bourbon Source picture: Wikipedia Her parents were Louis Jean Marie de Bourbon and  Princess Maria Teresa of Modena. In 1769 she married Philippe, Duke of Orléans.  In 1792 she visited with her father the Château de Bizy in Normandy. Her husband was pro the Revolution. He was known as Philippe Égalité. Although Philippe Égalité was pro the Revolution he was executed in  1793. Louise left France but returned in 1814 with the Bourbon Restauration. She took her old place at court.  Louise Marie Adélaïde de Bourbon died on June 23rd. 1821. She was the mother of King Louis Philippe I of France and the grandmother of Queen Louise of Belgium. 

OTD March 12th. 1781 Frederica of Baden

On March 12th. 1781, Frederica of Baden was born in Karlsruhe (Germany). Frederica of Sweden Source picture: Wikipedia Her parents were Karl Ludwig of Baden and Amalie of Hesse-Darmstadt. Link to Imperial Russia:  Frederica of Baden was the sister of Louise of Baden (who changed her name  in Elizabeth Alexeievna by her marriage with Tsar Alexander I of Russia  and her conversion to the Orthodox Church).  In 1797, Frederica married King Gustaf IV Adolf of Sweden. King Gustaf IV Adolf of Sweden & his wife Source picture: Wikipedia Together they had five children. In 1809, there was a coup in Sweden. The Royals exiled in Baden.  King Gustaf IV was restless . They seperated in 1810. In 1812 the divorce was completed. Frederica traveled a lot and died on September 25th. 1826 in Lausanne (Switzerland).  There were several communities in Sweden named in her honor.
