Royal Calendar of March 20

The Royal History World has had many events which took place on

Abdication

King Ludwig I of Bavaria (now located in Germany) abdicated
on 20 March 1848 in favour of his son Maximilian (who became
Maximilian II of Bavaria).



King Ludwig I reigned from 13 October 1825. He was a member of
the House of Wittelsbach. He died on 29 February 1868 in Nice, France.


Births

On 20 March 1469, Cecily of York was born at Westminster Palace
in London. Her parents were King Edward IV of England and
Elisabeth Woodville. Cecily was a member of the House of York.
She died on 24 August 1507 on the Isle of Wight.



Abdul Hamid I was born on 20 March 1725 in Constantinople in the
Ottoman Empire. He became Sultan from 1774 to 1789.
He was a member of the House of Ottoman.
He died on 7 April 1789.



Napoleon II was born on 20 March 1811 in Paris. His parents were
Napoleon Bonaparte and Marie Luise of Austria. He died on
22 July 1832 at Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna.





Deaths

Henry IV of England died on 20 March 1413 at Westminster Palace
in London. He was born on 15 April 1367 at Bolingbroke Castle.
He was a member of the Royal House of Lancaster.





Albert, Duke of Prussia died on 20 March 1568 at Tapiau Castle.
He was born on 17 May 1490. His parents were Frederick I of
Brandenburg-Ansbach. Albert Duke of Prussia was a member of
the House of Hohenzollern.



Princess Maria of Orange-Nassau died on 20 March 1688 at
Schloss Oranienhof.  She was born on 5 September 1642 at
The Hague as the daughter of Frederick Henry, Prince of Orange
and Amalia of Solms-Braunfels.





Emma of Waldeck and Pyrmont died on 20 March 1934. She was born on
2 August 1858. She became Queen Consort of the Netherlands as the spouse
of King William III of the Netherlands. She was the mother of Queen
Wilhelmina. Emma of Waldeck and Pyrmont was a member of the House of
Waldeck and Pyrmont and by marriage of the House of Orrange-Nassau.




Queen Juliana of the Netherlands died on 20 March 2004. She was born on
30 April 1909 as the daughter of Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands and
Duke Henry of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. She was a member of the House of
Orange-Nassau.
