Maria Christina of Austria was born on July 21st. 1858. Marie Christina of Austria Source picture: Wikipedia Her parents were Archduke Karl Ferdinand of Austria and Archduchess Elisabeth Franziska of Austria. Sometimes she was described as tall, fair sensible and well educated. On November 29th. 1879, Maria Christina married King Alfonso XII of Spain. Maria Christina became Queen Consort of Spain. King Alfonso XII of Spain Source: Wikipedia They had 3 children. King Alfonso XII of Spain died when she was pregnant of  her 3rd child. OTD February 5th. 1519 René of Chalon

René of Chalon was born on February 5th. 1519 in Breda (now The Netherlands). He was a Prince of Orange, stadtholder of Holland, Zeeland, Utrecht & Gelre. René of Chalon Source picture: Wikipedia His parents were Henry III of Nassau-Breda and Claudia of Chalon. In 1540, René of Chalon married Anna of Lorraine. Anna of Lorraine Source picture: Wikipedia They had one child, a daughter who only lived for 3 weeks. On July 18th. 1544, René of Chalon died during a battle, in service of Emperor Charles V. After the death of René of Chalon, William the Silent inherited not only  his property but also his title 'Prince of Orange'.

OTD February 4th 1752 Louis d'Orleans

Louis d'Orléans was born on August 4th. 1703 @ the Palace of Versailles near Paris (France). Louis d'Orléans Source picture: Wikipedia His parents were Philippe II, Duke of Orléans and Françoise Marie de Bourbon (a legitimised daughter of King Louis XIV and Madame de Montespan). In 1724, Louis d'Orléans married Johanna of Baden-Baden (also called  Margravine Auguste of Baden-Baden). Johanna of Baden-Baden Source picture: Wikipedia It was love at first sight. The couple had 2 children but only 1 survived infancy. Louis d'Orleans was praised for his charity.  He died on February 4th. 1752.
