In the footsteps of Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Sisi) in Elche Spain

The life and travels of Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Sisi) always have fascinated me, you can find lots of her travels on this link .  In Austria she felt restless and she always was very keen to be on her way to the most beautiful destinations. Following her footsteps  resulted in a never ending wishlist but from time to time it is a  surprise to visit places where Empress Elisabeth of Austria was before. I must admit: those places are true treasures. One of them is Elche , (also called Elx) in the province of Alicante in Spain. She suggested to give them her name. (Imperial Palm).  She also visited the The Huerto del Cura . 

Antonine de Mun, duchess d' Ursel and a keen artist

Antonine de Mun was born on 14 November 1849 in Paris as the daughter of marquis Adrien de Mun and Pauline de Ludre.  Love and Marriage She married her nephew Joseph d'Ursel. 31 October 1934 marks the birth of Princess Margaretha of Sweden. This took place at Haga Palace, Solna, Sweden. Family She was the eldest child of Prince Gustaf Adolf, Duke of Västerbotten and his wife Princess Sibylla of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. Her paternal grandparents were  Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf of Sweden and his late wife Princess Margaret of Connaught. Her maternal grandparents were Prince Charles Edward, Duke of Saxe- Coburg and Gotha and his wife Princess Victoria Adelaide of Schleswig-Holstein.  Princess Margaretha had other siblings: Princess Birgitta of Sweden (born 19 January 1937); Princess Désirée, Baroness Silfverschiöld (born 2 June 1938); Princess Christina, Mrs. Magnuson (born 3 August 1943); and Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden (born 30 April 1946). Friedrich Karl August, Prince of Waldeck and Pyrmont

Friedrich Karl August, Prince of Waldeck and Pyrmont was born on  25 October 1743 in Zweibrücken (now a part of Germany). Friedrich Karl August with his parents, brothers and sisters. Family Friedrich was the second son of Karl August, Prince of Waldeck and Pyrmont and Countess Palatine Christiane Henriette of Zweibrücken-Birkenfeld.  He was thus a member of the House of Waldeck and Pyrmont. A Grand Tour He stayed on for one and a half years in Lausanne and made his Grand Tour through Italy and France. Military Friedrich entered into foreign military services. In 1757 he was Imperial lieutenant colonel. In 1766 he became Major General and in 1772 lieutenant-general of the Dutch army.
