OTD 8 October 1656 John George I Elector of Saxony

On March 5th. 1585, John George (in German: Johann Georg) was born in Dresden (Germany). Family John George was the second son of Elector Christian of Saxony and his wife Sophie of Brandenburg. Duty On June 23rd. 1611, John George became Elector of Saxony with the death of his elder brother Christian II. At the beginning of his reign John George didn't know what to do: making an alliance with the protestants against the House of Habsburg or making an alliance with the Habsburg Emperor. This led to wars and finally the Treaty of Prague in 1635. John George was no great ruler. He would have been harsh and unlovely. He liked to drink  and hunting. Love and Marriage John George I of Saxony married twice. 1/ on September 16th. 1604 to Sibylle Elisabeth of Württemberg. OTD 6 October 1738 Archduchess Maria Anna of Austria

Archduchess Maria Anna of Austria (Marianna in the family) was born on October 6th. 1738 at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna. Family Archduchess Maria Anna was the daughter of Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor and Maria Theresa of Austria. She was thus the sister of inter alia: Holy Roman Emperor Joseph II Holy Roman Emperor Leopold II Queen Marie Antoinette of France ... Childhood Maria Anna became Francis I's favorite child but she didn't get well on with her mother. She received a customary education of the princely courts at that time. Maria Anna was highly intelligent but physically disable. She suffered from a bad health and the drafty, cold rooms of the Hofburg Palace worsened this. OTD 2 October 1452 Richard III of England

October 2nd. 1452 marks the birth of Richard III of England. This took place at Fotheringhay Castle in Northamptonshire. Family He was a son of Richard Plantagenet, 3rd Duke of York and Cecily Neville, born at the beginning of the Wars of the Roses. Childhood When he was eight years old, his father and elder brother, Edmund, Earl of Rutland, were killed at the Battle of Wakefield (December 30th. 1460). Richard and his older brother, George (later Duke of Clarence) were sent to the Low Countries. They stayed in Utrecht under the careful eye of Bishop David of Burgundy. Although they returned after the Battle of Towton. In 1461, Richard's eldest brother was crowned as King Edward IV.
