Travel 10 Must sees in Brussels Belgium
At the invitation of their Majesties the King and Queen, His excellency
Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic and
Ms. Brigitte Macron make a state visit to Belgium on 19 and 20
November 2018.
This programm includes a ceremonial reception on Monday at the
Place the Palais in Brussels, a visit to Ghent, and the State Banket at
Laeken.
On Tuesday they will visit Molenbeek and Ittre.
On the occasion of this important State Visit (which is actually the first
president of France who comes to Belgium since 1971!), so I made an
alternative top 10 of the must sees in Brussels, the capital of Belgium.
1/ Brussels Park - Warandepark (in Dutch)
In front of the Royal Palace of Brussels, this lovely park is located. It
is a very nice place to walk in the middle of a busy city.

2/ Grand Place of Brussels
According to me, one of the most splendid places of the world, certainly is
the Grand Place of Brussels. It really has some spectacular buildings.

6/ Royal Library of Belgium & Mont des Arts in Brussels
If you like books and history, this is the place-to-be! On many occasions
King Philippe of the Belgians takes his special guests to this amazing place
in Brussels, however it is now not on the official programm.
7/ Court of Audit
This beautiful, but rather small palace has a very important royal history. It was
here that King Albert I of Belgium was born.

8/ Church of Our Blessed Lady of the Sablon in Brussels
Brussels count many churches, basilicas and even a cathedral. This is one of the
not so famous churches, but o so beautiful.
9/ Coudenberg Palace in Brussels
This former palace was one of the royal residences of the Dukes of Burgundy and
the Habsburg Emperors such as Maximilian I of Austria and Charles V. It was
demolished though parts of the palace (under the ground) are still open for public.

10/ Military Museum at the Cinquantenaire Park in Brussels
I think at this State Visit it is better not to talk about military things, due to the
decision that Belgium will buy some F35 planes instead of the planes of France.
However this is a very nice museum for those who are interested in the history of
the army.

President Trump used to call Brussels a 'hellhole', for me Brussels is a splendid
Royal Destination with lots of history, but of course as a Belgian I'm quiet
prejudiced.
I've taken the pictures in this post between 2012 and 2018 in Brussels.
