Royal Destinations : Belvedere Palace in Vienna (Austria)

The Belvedere Palace is a complex located in Vienna (Capital of Austria) and consists of 2 buildings. It houses a museum and can be visited (you can't take pictures inside). The Palace was built as a summer residence for Prince Eugene of Savoy. Entrance of the Belvedere Palace own pictures The Belvedere Palace is a huge baroque complex with a large, beautiful garden. It was built for Prince Eugene of Savoy, a general for the Austrian Empire, who fought during the War of the Spanish Procession. Today in History - October 18th. 1663 - Prince Eugene of Savoy

On October 18th. 1663, Prince Eugene of Savoy was born in Hôtel de Soissons in Paris (France) as son of Eugene Maurice , Count of Soissons, Count of Dreux and Prince of Savoy and Olympia Mancini . old painting of Hôtel de Soissons in Paris  Prince Eugene of Savoy  grew up at the French court. Eugene applied by Louis XIV of France for a post in his army. But the French King refused that (he was not good looking enough). He recieved a post in the army of Leopold  I of Austria, later he also served Joseph I and Charles VI. He became a succesfully military. He also became patron of arts. Sometimes History is hard, gory and cruel. That proves my Today in History. On October 16th. 1793, Queen Marie Antoinette of France, born Marie Antoinette of Austria, was guillotined during the French Revolution. As you can see, Queen Marie Antoinette wore the most special and  extraordinary clothes. Today in History - October 15th. 1815 - Napoleon started his exile

Napoleon I of France started his exile in Saint Helena on October 15th. 1815. Source picture: Wikipedia Saint Helena is a volcanic isle named after Saint Helena of Constaninople. It is located in the South Atlantic Ocean. During the time of Napoleon's exile it was ruled by Great Britain. Napoleon stayed at Saint Helena in Longwood House.
