OTD 1 August 1627 Princess Louise of Savoy

Princess Louise of Savoy was born on August 1st. 1627 at the Hôtel de Soissons in Paris (France). Family Her parents were Thomas Francis, Prince of Carignano and Marie de Bourbon. Through her mother, Princess Louise of Savoy was a granddaughter of Louis de Bourbon, an uncle of King Henry IV of France. Her father was a younger son of Charles Emmanuel I, Duke of Savoy and his Spanish wife, Infanta Catherine Michelle of Spain Love & Marriage Princess Louise of Savoy married Margrave Ferdinand Maximilian of Baden-Baden on March 15th. 1653 at the Eglise Saint -Sulpice in Paris. The marriage itself was not successful because Princess Louise of Savoy refused to leave the French court. However on April 8th 1655 she gave birth to a son named Louis William of Baden-Baden. On July 29th. 1981, the wedding took place between Charles, Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer. On July 25th. 1554 an important wedding took place at the Winchester cathedral in England. The marriage between Queen Mary I of England and Philip, Prince of Asturias (the later King Philip II of Spain) was arranged and had a lot of political influence. In England the nobles didn't like the idea of a marriage between their Queen and someone from the House of Habsburg. They feared the independence of England. Besides that Philip could not speak English. The two spoke to each other in a mix of Spanish, French and Latin. Family ties Queen Mary I of England was the daughter of King Henry VIII of England and Catherina of Aragon. Philip II was a son of Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor and Isabella of Portugal Charles V's mother, Joanna of Castile, was the daughter of King Ferdinand II of Aragon.
